- 5.0 out of 5 stars from ToyWill14 -- Don’t miss reading this book! : I never write reviews even though I am an avid reader. I have read all of Karen’s books and this is my favorite of them all. She tackles a tough subject with grace and love. Human trafficking is a real and terrible evil. I believe books like this can educate us as well as entertain us. The characters are relatable with real issues and struggles. Like I said I don’t do reviews, never good at them. But this is a must read! ( Reviewed in the United States on April 29, 2021 )

Saig -- What a massive disappointment : I was expecting this to be a great read based on the summary and rank on the NYT Best Seller list, but this might be one of the worst, most annoyingly bland and mediocre books I’ve ever read. While the plot/story arc had potential, the writing was so weak I had stop at one point and confirm I hadn’t mistakenly bought a drab YA novel. The dialogue was a joke, like something out of a cheesy, super G-rated Hallmark movie, and not at all like a tough FBI agent breaking up sex trafficking rings. Several parts were so far fetched and ridiculous I just skipped ahead. Prior to starting the book, nothing I read or saw about it suggested it was a Christian novel (like, waaaaay overboard with the Christianity) - had I known I never would’ve bothered with this book. I found the never ending God talk so off-putting. I didn’t even bother reading the Bible quotes at the start of every. single. chapter. I only finished this book so my review would be credible. Having devoured every book of hers, this story pierced my heart in all the right ways. The merciful Hand of God and His loving plans for a broken life comes through every page. But this one still included the message we must all remember, that God should be in the center of our lives, our hearts, in every thing we think, say & do. This love story focused on what is very near & dear to my heart in this stage of my life...child trafficking. It greatly saddens my heart for anyone to be used by others in slavery, no matter the age. But it hurts me deeply to know that in this world, the evil of trafficking children exists. I pray & thank God everyday that there are those equipped by God who are out there rescuing our children all over the world. God wins! So disappointing : I have read several of the author's books and although the whole religious thing is often heavy, it somehow suits her simple plots and simple characters. The author tried writing a thriller-type novel and she hasn't pulled it off. The characters are shallow and are almost robotic. The dialogue is cheesy and was so weak that I couldn't believe that it was Karen Kingsbury writing. The religious motivation driving the main characters was totally unrealistic. Sorry, real people just don't speak or behave that way. Real people are flawed and in this book the main characters walk around with halos shining forth.
